Jared Hallock Captures His Inner Monologue With ‘My Destiny’

Jared Hallock has built a reputation with music that’s pleasantly unusual while remaining charming, releasing under the name of Project213. Now he’s released his new single ‘My Destiny’ in his own name, still maintaining his signature absurdism.

A dedicated craftsman, Hallock is a songwriter, composer, producer, and publisher, who’s been just one of many accomplished artists in the vibrant music scene of Boise, Idaho. Now splitting his time between Boise and Nashville, Tennessee, Hallock continues to evolve his sound, defying genre limitations and collaborating with a diverse range of artists from all over the world.

Latest single, ‘My Destiny’, sees him collaborate with a global network of artists, bringing the track to life with a glorious blend of voices, ideas, and sounds from all over the world.

Inspired by the likes of ‘Wait (The Whisper Song)’, by the Ying Yang Twins, and Snoop Dogg & Pharrell’s, ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’, Hallock uses spoken-word whispers in sultry layers over silky basslines, weird whistling sounds, and a surreal atmosphere, to capture that inner monologue that occurs while confronting one’s fate.

The narrator of the song tries to play it cool, but finds it impossible to contain his surprise and awe when finding his “destiny” is right there beside him, chilling out and sharing smiles with him. Hallock leaves it unclear as to whether or not “destiny” comes in the form of a goal, a love object, or something even more abstract, meaning that the listener is able to apply the idea to their own lives.

The music video for ‘My Destiny’ continues with the absurdism of the song, as it’s brought to life with a collage-like animation style. The narrator is a tennis player, trying to attract the attention of, and impress, a girl who is happy to soak up the attention of those around her – not just him. It’s a rom-com of sorts, as he tries to win the heart of his girl, finally culminating in a tennis match. Is it love all? Watch the video below and find out!
