Staunch Moderates started out as a group campaigning for a safe place for members of both parties to have political dialogue during the 2020 US elections, and using the power of music to unify. Now, the group from Aspen, Colorado, founded in 2019 by Greg Simmons and Bo Persiko, are broadening their horizons even further, with a visual album and companion virtual live concert video, ‘THE STAUNCH MODERATES EXPERIENCE’, and the first release is a “live” version of their 2023 release, ‘Rolling Stone‘.
Along with their 8 foot tall mascot, DJ Staunch, the members of Staunch Moderates’ band, DJ Staunch and the Bigfoots, are accompanied by longtime collaborator Shorty Mack, who raps through a potted history of Rolling Stone Magazine and its epic nearly 60 year history, starting way back in 1967. The beat captures the group’s innovative flair, with soaring guitars and buoyant harmonies, and Mack’s bars providing both an enticing lesson about the history of pop and rock music, and a vibrant celebration of it all.
The music video for ‘Rolling Stone’ features the largest “staunch” crew the group have ever put together. On stage there’s founder and CEO Greg Simmons, along with Kyle Knight, longtime collaborator Shorty Mack, the unmistakable DJ Staunch, and backing vocalists, the Staunchettes. Juxtaposing concert performance clips with historical footage, overlaid with shots of the band in the studio, it’s somewhat of a sensory overload, but for four minutes you can put aside all your inhibitions and come along on this musical acid trip of a history lesson.
