The MFs Release New Album, ‘Just Stopped By’, To Coincide With Multifaceted Musician And Author Mo Fanning’s New Book, ‘Rainbows And Lollipops’

Describing themselves as “a collective of oddballs and scoundrels dancing to the beat of UK author Mo Fanning”, the MFs have released a 12 track album to accompany Fanning’s latest book, ‘Rainbows And Lollipops’.

‘Just Stopped By’ is out now and can be streamed and downloaded here. ‘Rainbows And Lollipops’, set for release on June 12, is available to pre-order here, and you can also read more about it here.

Mo Fanning says he was sick of paying for music to create videos to support his books, and so he recorded his own. Thus was the genesis of The MFs, with ‘Just Stopped By’ telling its own story, as well as that of ‘Rainbows And Lollipops’. Taking inspiration from the likes of ABBA, Blondie, and Kirsty McColl, and Swedish singer songwriter, Anna Ternheim, ‘Just Stopped By’ is a masterpiece of pure lyrical pop, each track able to stand on its own, as well as part of the overall concept.

‘Just Stopped By’ is an energetic collection of tracks that completely capture the themes of ‘Rainbows And Lollipops’. It’s hard to choose just one track to showcase, but a contender would have to be ‘Miles Away’, which was released as a single back in April, ahead of the album’s release on 1 May. Set against a beat reminiscent of a train hurtling along the tracks, the song is an introspective look at a relationship and wondering if it was all real. A nice touch is the sound of an actual train at the end. Additionally, the track ‘Rainbows And Lollipops’, midway through the album, brings a theatrical vibe with its more laid back sound, as the singer’s voice rises and falls, much like the highs and lows they sing about in the lyrics.
