Jeff Schubert Highlights The Discrepancies Between NFL Players’ Pay With ‘I’m The Quarterback!’

A native New Yorker now based in Los Angeles, Jeff Schubert is a multifaceted artist who is an entertainer at heart. With his vibrant imagination, quick wit and incredible social observations, his work is as provocative as it is hilarious. That’s not all there is to him, however. Recently he’s been putting his energy into working at an intensive inpatient programme, in Pacoima, California, which supports adults with dual diagnoses of mental illness and substance abuse. His own experiences as a child led him into social work,. and also influenced his signature “dark comedy” storytelling. Now, having left his job, Jeff Schubert is once more devoting himself fully to his art, and immersing himself in filmmaking, acting, stand-up comedy and music.

Jeff Schubert’s latest film, ‘Like, Comment, and Share’, inspired him to get back into music. He wanted to finish the film on a high note, and he crafted a rap for the end credits, which reinforced the message of the short movie. He found this reignited his musical spark, and so, for his new song, ‘I’m the Quarterback!’, he set out to tackle (pun intended) a huge issue in American football – the salaries of NFL quarterbacks.

On the surface, ‘I’m The Quarterback!’ is a silly song with an even sillier music video, but it certainly shines a spotlight on the discrepancies between quarterbacks and the rest of the NFL team. With a pulsating beat backing his rap lyrics, which he’d hastily scribbled down, Jeff and his cheer squad highlight the ridiculousness of paying quarterbacks more than anyone else just because they lead the offense. It’s a team sport, and so therefore no single player should be seen as more important than any other.
