Songwriter and producer Brandon Greenstein tells us that we have reached a critical point in human history with his new single for The BreakBomb Project, ‘Too Late’.
With what was previously only considered the stuff of science fiction, processes such as brain-switching and mental re-coding, thought manipulation, synapse mapping and rewiring have become all too clearly possible in real life, with advances in neuroscience. In the right hands, this is a good thing, but in the wrong ones – it’s too scary to think about. Greenstein has, however, and he’s at least happy to have a little fun with the idea before it’s all ‘Too Late’.
‘Too Late’ is explosive and energetic, urgent, immediate and bracing; a fitting follow up for Greenstein’s EP, ‘Neurobridge’, an imaginative experiment in electronic music that not only got listeners dancing, but also had them considering the world their desires had created.
With ‘Too Late’ Greenbridge continues down this path. Featuring a breathtakingly stunning performance from vocalist Ryan Violet, the track features crisp drum programming, atmospheric synths, and gorgeously club-ready breakdowns. The track comes with an equally gripping music video, nearly 9 minutes long, that sees Greenstein and Violet exploring an abandoned factory, which turns out to hold the key to their own neurobridge adventure.
The clip for ‘Too Late’ is more of a short film than your average music video. On the hunt for a pioneering scientist, who had vanished in the 1980s, after having first created a prototype of a brain-altering technological instrument. Leaving behind nothing but a codex of his experiments, their search leads them to the factory, which reveals an inner chamber containing a computer and headset. They set themselves up, and are taken for a ride through virtual reality, into the noosphere, a corner of space and time that perhaps nobody should have gone to.
