The music video for ‘Dream’, by Sean Kiez, opens with a quote from the man himself. “Greatness is achieved by protecting and pursuing your DREAM. Stay Focused”. Wise words from the Houston singer, emcee, and songwriter.
Kiez puts his skills and charisma on full display in ‘Dream’, serving as inspiring with his tenacity and self-belief. Kiez raps about what he knows: he’s had more than his share of poverty and struggle, and his strong mental acumen is thanks to his upbringing in the churches of Milwaukee and Los Angeles, and also spurs him on to give a “voice to the voiceless”. Kiez uses his song as a pulpit, and in the music video he’s supported by a five-piece gospel choir, as well as a piano and organ, underlaid by a thrumming drum and bass. It’s inspirational while being grounded in southern hip hop with the biggest hooks you’ve ever come across.
In the music video for ‘Dream’, co-directed by Sean Kiez himself alongside Jeah Ross, we see Kiez in the studio, alternating with clips of him hanging out with his friends, going to the service station, living life, doing ordinary things with ordinary people, yet making it feel like the most blessed time. Sharing a bag of crisps with a friend, rapping in front of an audience or singing at the top of his lungs on a loading dock behind an old factory, with nobody else there to hear. It’s a realness that’s beautiful in its authenticity. Sean Kiez is confident in his message, and even if nobody is around to hear it, he’s still always following his dream.
