We chat with incredible artist, Ozzie D., about her music and her inspirations.
Talk to us a little bit about your musical origins. What inspired you to start making music?
When I was 3 years old, I would listen to my parents and brother singing to country songs and I would try to chime in… my mother would tell me that I couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket and I would jut my jaw out, and tell her that is okay, I am going to be the hummer in the family. I continued to sing while I was working and kept writing and singing.
‘Jingle Man’ has a Rock & Roll blues kind of sound, who were your musical influences for this song?Â
Everyone and every situation I find inspiration just simply through living life.
What motivated you to write a song about Santa Claus in this unique style?Â
I have a deep sense of humor and thought I would put a twist on Old Claus’s name since folks are always seeking something new.
What was your writing process like for this song?Â
As I mentioned in a prior interview, being on the Spectrum. I interpret energy differently and more deeply than others. It usually takes me to write the song as long as it takes you to sing it.
What emotions are you hoping to stir in listeners of ‘Jingle Man’? What message are you hoping to spread to others?Â
Hold on to your inner child and never fully grow up in order not to lose hope.
Do you see this song becoming part of a new holiday tradition?Â
I do not assume anything, I can only hope that my songs will do well, in order for me to help the Children at St Jude’s and the Ronald McDonald House. I normally am not comfortable in crowds, but I will come out of my comfort zone in order to help these kids have a more fulfilling life.
Did you face any challenges while working on this track? If so, how did you overcome them?Â
When it comes to writing, there are no challenges except how the public will respond to what I am sharing.
What would you tell young, aspiring musical artists looking for advice?
Always believe in yourself and never give up because you are never too old to make dreams come true.
