Tornado Sky Are Showing The World Who They Gotta Be With ‘Riding The Wave’

Tornado Sky return with a gorgeous country anthem, ‘Riding The Wave’, and continue with the biographical style they first introduced with their single, ‘Beautiful Now’, released in July.

Tornado Sky’s Jerry Careaga and Stephanie Gladhart, are partners in life as well as in music, and their sound has a certain softness, a gentleness about it, while their vocals harmonise beautifully.

You can feel the SoCal sunshine in Tornado Sky; both Jerry and Stephanie are LA natives, and make their base these days in Ventura, a little bit further up into the Golden State, but still well within the sound of the surf. ‘Riding The Wave’ isn’t strictly about the wet stuff however. It’s more of a story of finding your place on the west coast, where life is more relaxed, and people are more understanding. It’s a good spot to start from if you need the world to see who you really are.

Taken from their new album, ‘The Rough And The Wild’, the new single, ‘Riding The Wave’ feels like a declaration of independence: this is who we’ve gotta be, this is who we’re gonna be. Pulling away from the expectations of parents and other adults, realising you’re in charge of your life, and making a statement of intent. Much as it might be Tornado Sky’s story, it can be our story too; an assurance that we don’t have to walk in anyone’s shadow, or hold ourselves up to the standards imposed on us.

Twanging guitar rhythms and moderately paced percussion, ‘Riding The Wave’ is catchy and compelling, tender and sweet. Come ride the wave of freedom with Tornado Sky and show the world who you’ve gotta be.
