We Speak To Edwin Cohen Following His Stunning Release, ‘Alexander’s Messiah’

Alexander’s Messiah’ by Edwin Cohen, follows a man’s journey of trying to feel “chosen”, while on the constant search to escape from poor decisions, and memories that constantly nag him. With beautiful orchestral melodies and stunning piano, we are taken on a journey to discover our destiny, created by Cohen’s delightful songcraft. We spoke to Edwin about his music, and his inspirations.

What inspired you to create ‘Alexander’s Messiah’?

We all could use our very own messiah. I’m still looking for mine.

How have your personal experiences shaped the lyrics or mood of ‘Alexander’s Messiah’?

I’ve had moments when I needed help that simply wasn’t there.

What do you hope your fans will feel or understand when they listen to ‘Alexander’s Messiah’?

That this song is an allegory. It says a lot more than it first appears to say.

Were there any standout moments or stories from the recording process that you’d like to share?

There are some unusual modulations. The singer was truly challenged but ended up doing a great job.

Did any artists or specific tracks play a role in influencing ‘Alexander’s Messiah’s’ sound or style?

No. This song can’t be compared to anything else.

How has your style of music changed over the years?

I try to stay up to the minute.

How do you see your music changing as you continue to experience life? 

I rewrite a lot more than I used to.
