We ‘get this’ With Deeply Personal New Single From Folk Trio, The GET

Released on Friday 13 September, ‘get this’ is the latest single from New Orleans folk trio, The GET.

Founded by singer-songwriter and guitarist, George Elizondo, the GET is also comprised of Chris Beroes-Haigis on cello and FX, and Violeta Del Rio, who brings with her vocals, keyboards, drum machine, and also FX.

Drawing from a wide range of influences, including the likes of James Blake, Juana Molina, and Radiohead, Elizondo also harks back to his Nicaraguan and Cuban heritage with regard to his lyricism, writing in both English and Spanish.

‘get this’, their new single, is accompanied by a live performance video, with the group playing in a small room of the Big Blue House event space. It’s an intimate performance, with the camera panning in and out of each artist’s instrumentation, with close-up features of all the band members, softly lit, and fading out from time to time.

The soft focus works well with the gentle, ethereal vocals of lead singer Elizondo, and the audience feels like they’ve been given exclusive access to something that would otherwise remain a secret to the band themselves. The live session was recorded in a studio the band built at the Big Blue House in New Orleans, and all three members clearly lose themselves in their music, with Beroes-Haigis’ cello performance in particular feeling deeply personal.
