Edwin Cohen Delights With His Stunning Songcraft In Latest Release, ‘Alexander’s Messiah’

Growing up in the 50s in Fort Worth Texas, Edwin Cohen had the unwavering support of his parents when he started seriously writing music while still in his early 20s, in the hope of making it his career. While still only 24 years old, he wrote ‘Mr. Success’, which was highly praised and sung by Frank Sinatra. From there he wrote for other well-known artists, such as Tom Jones, Eric Clapton, and The McGuire Sisters. Now 90, he’s still going strong, and his new single is the gorgeous ‘Alexander’s Messiah, featuring the vocals of Chris Ray.

‘Alexander’s Messiah’ follows a man’s journey of trying to feel “chosen”, while on the constant search to escape from poor decisions, and memories that constantly nag him. With beautiful orchestral melodies and stunning piano, we are taken on a journey to discover our destiny, created by Cohen’s delightful songcraft.

The music video for ‘Alexander’s Messiah’ follows a man who longs for meaning in his life, waiting patiently for change to happen. All the while, time slips away, symbolised by a ticking metronome, and the rising and setting sun. He’s seeking his vision of “Heaven on Earth”, but this becomes harder and harder to grasp hold of. The essence of it all is to not dream of “something higher”, but instead, accept the beauty and magnificence around us.
