We See Things A Little Differently After Speaking To Wolfgang Hildebrandt About His New Single, ‘In My Eyes’

We chat with German artist Wolfgang Hildebrandt about his music, his inspirations, his upcoming work, and the stunning video he made for his new single, ‘In My Eyes‘, which makes use of AI to convey his message, and give a different look at the world.

Tell us a little bit about your journey as an artist.

My music is my life and I love performing LIVE and have travelled the world with music. I was the first German to give a peace concert at the UN headquarters in New York and I wrote the United Nations Song. Most recently, I sang at Carnegie Hall in New York on January 13, 2024. You can find out more on my website.

What led to the creation of the song ‘In My Eyes’?

‘In My Eyes’ is more than just a musical creative effort; it’s a vibrant celebration of love, joy, and escapism. Crafted by Wolfgang Hildebrandt, an artist who understands the power of music to uplift and transport, this infectious track is designed to ignite a sense of excitement and elation in its listeners. With pulsating beats and catchy melodies, it invites you to let loose and lose yourself in its rhythm. Behind the scenes, the collaborative effort shines through, with the artist joining forces with songwriter India Perez (model & actress) to craft lyrics that resonate universally. Rooted in the desire to create a love song that transcends boundaries, ‘In My Eyes’ effortlessly bridges cultural divides, reminding us that music is a universal language that knows no barriers.

What made you decide to go with animation for the concept of the music video?

Every couple and every viewer can see themselves in the video. The animation and the oversized eyes convey love and affection even more and offer the viewer and listener plenty of space for their dreams, inspiration, and ultimately the ability to put themselves in the shoes of the video.

Can you share with us any memorable moments during the creation of the music video?

The video was shot with real people. The dance steps were worked out together with Rosemary Rittner (model, actress and sports teacher). Romantic scenes were combined with dance interludes. The video was shot by the photographer Silk Sulz and Wolfgang Hildebrandt later took over the animation work for the video.

What is your favourite scene in the music video and why?

Actually I love all the scenes in the video, the beginning with the Telecaster Fender guitar, the tender touches and the dance scenes. Then there is the string quartet, and it moves more and more in the video. The faces in the instruments and the more you watch them, the more you notice them.

What do you hope viewers will take away from listening to and watching  “In My Eyes”?

Dreams, joy, fun, and romance. The listeners and viewers can recognize themselves in the video

Who are your top three musical inspirations?

Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard, and George Strait.

Can you discuss any future projects you are very excited about?

I look forward to writing more country songs.
