Premiere: May Fall Is ‘Under Cover’ With Latest Release Out Today

Having made music since he was 7 years old, May Fall has been on a lifelong journey to share his perspective through music.

The artist, whose sound falls within indie, synth, and alt-pop, today releases his new single, ‘Under Cover’.

May Fall’s solo style is vastly different to that which he showcased with his longtime progressive metal band, Road To Evenmind, and his jazz-fusion trio, The May Fall Crew. ‘Under Cover’ is an upbeat synth-infused, retro-vibing track, reflecting the fact he’s long been a fan of synth music, and of 70s and 80s synth artists.

‘Under Cover’ examines those challenges faced when trying to keep up appearances, while at the same time dealing with hidden struggles. There’s a constant feeling of having to look like you’ve got it all under control at all times, despite on the inside you’re actually falling apart. Additionally, May Fall strongly empathises with the imposter syndrome that many of us experience; the idea that despite being successful in what we’re doing, something sometime is going to fall off and expose us who who we truly are.

‘Under Cover’ is an upbeat electronic track, that is impossible to listen to just the one time, and pays homage to the era of synth heroes such as Thomas Dolby, and Harold Faltermeyer.

The accompanying music video for ‘Under Cover’, blends unusual visuals with vintage vibes, and at the same time giving it a modern edge. The clip, shot and co-directed by Adam Rabinovich, sees May Fall walking through dark and empty city streets, and the feeling of alienation and solitude is evident. Additionally, video artist Roteker has added graphics and obscure short clips onto the video, giving it a vintage feel, and further enhancing the discomforting vibes. As with the song, the music video demands playing on repeat, in order to fully appreciate what’s going on.
