Nigerian Gospel artist Chidi Collins follows up his April release, ‘Kabiyesi’ with a fervent gospel track, ‘Ancient of Days’. Pouring his heart out in this showcase of his incredible vocals, he offers himself up to God in a truly moving track.
“Imagine finding yourself in front of the Throne of Grace, mic in hand and one opportunity to serenade our KING, which song will you sing?”.
This is the question asked by Chidi Collins in his new single, ‘Ancient of Days’. A song which feels like a stream of consciousness prayer to his Lord and Saviour, ‘Ancient Of Days’ is accompanied by a music video featuring Chidi leading a group of choristers in song.
Ancient of Days’ is Chidi’s message and offering to God, with lyrics that draw the listener into a state of contemplative meditation. Even if you’re not someone of faith, it’s impossible to not be touched by the sweet and yet passionate, heartfelt vocals.
Chidi Collins, who hails from the vibrant town of Aba, in Abia State, Nigeria, felt his calling into Gospel music as a child, and he started following his destiny with a serious passion from his early teen years. It wasn’t uncommon for Chidi’s family to find him in Church, deep in prayer and worship, and so it’s no surprise that he moved his musical ministry from there to the streets, where he shared the word of God alongside his younger brother. Accepting Christ as his saviour at the age of 15 ignited the already fervant fire within him, and together with his friends, he formed the a cappella group, Philharmonics, ministering in various churches across Abia state.
During this time Chidi wrote the now-iconic Nigerian Gospel song, ‘Bend Low’, with its powerful message imploring listeners to surrender to God. Originally an a cappella song, ‘Bend Low’ has been recreated in a variety of versions, and found its way onto the song lists of churches all over the world.
