Honey and Blue Bring Sweet Soul To New Single And Video, ‘All In My Head’

With the official music video for their single, ‘All In My Head’, Honey and Blue channel High School Musical and 90s nostalgia, as they visualise their tale of an epic and fateful love story.

Honey and Blue, comprising Stephanie Amber and Adam Darling, came from New York and Columbus respectively, but found each other in Los Angeles, where they had both come on their musical journey. Now relocated back in Adam’s Ohio hometown, they have taken their careers to the next level, with their live performances a testimony to their genuine connection with the local community, and their position within Columbus’s thriving music scene.

Stephanie Amber describes herself as a theatre geek – hard not to be when you’ve been raised in New York – and she honed her Aretha Franklin-tinged vocals at home before a short time studying at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Conversely, Adam Darling’s inspirations came from the heavier sounds of bands such as Soundgarden, and he looked to John Mayer when it came to fine tuning his guitar and vocal skills. Coming together as Honey and Blue, the pair make beautiful music, a match that’s undeniably perfect.

‘All In My Head’ was inspired by a stranger’s tale at an airport, to which Amber felt drawn. The stranger told their story of how they were flying cross-country to meet up with their long-distance love, for a fleeting six hour rendezvous. Once home, Adam and Stephanie united their creative vision and came up with what can only be described as a masterclass in seductive and narrative-rich songwriting. The song’s infectious riff-and-strum cadence came to them quickly, and served as the perfect backdrop for the rest. The pair reconstruct the beautiful love story, with its accompanying tension and passion, each of them taking a verse in turn, supported by Adam’s ferocious guitar.

The music video for ‘All In My Head’ was co-directed by the pair themselves, and takes the viewer back to the days of high school, where playfulness and optimism reign supreme in things of love. There’s something for everyone in the clip, from the costumes to the characters, and the humorous and loving moments.
