Feeling Great: We Speak With Ivan The Greatness About His Music And Latest Single And Video, ‘Power2030’

Following our review of Ivan The Greatness’s single, ‘Power2030‘ last month, we caught up with the man himself and spoke to him about his life, his music, gaming, and Michael Jackson.

Hi Ivan, thanks for speaking to us! First of all, are you a gamer? And if so, how do you think you’d do playing the game that’s featured in the video for your new single, ‘Power2030’?

I play video games from time to time…. COD, GTA, Madden…. The norm!! It’s not hard for me to pick up the objective of games and how to play them. I’d give myself a 10/10 with this one especially since I would be the main character and the creator of the game!! Ha.

Who came up for the concept for the video? Were there any other ideas that had been considered, and if so what were they?

Creating the video took a lot of thought and we did our best to execute what we saw in our brains. My dad, Paul Warner, and I spent a lot time, hard work, and dedication on this project, and I’m so proud of how it turned out!!

If you were a superhero what would you want to be your superpower and why?

I would be a healer. I love to help. And I feel like healing is the strongest form of help. Whether it’s physically, mentally, or emotionally. It’s just the way I was raised. It’s always been a part of me.

You first came to fame when you were 11, singing on the Ellen Show. You’ve essentially been in music all your life. Is there anything else you might to have liked doing instead?

Yes, being on the Ellen DeGeneres Show was amazing and is definitely a highlight to put in the books but that was just the beginning.

Being in Joyful Noise traveling the world as Ivan Kelley and performing as one of my idols, Michael Jackson, meeting fans and making friends in the industry and outside the industry brings a lot of joy to what I do when I’m not creating, so music is definitely my number one. But I do dabble in art and fashion, and we take family time to do DIY projects from time to time.

Who are the top 3 artists on your “go-to” playlist, and why?

A. My 3 top right now would have to be Ye, Drake, and Ledgen Yae “changin” from time to time. That’s mostly my gym playlist; other than that, I don’t really listen to the radio or other artists. Just to try and keep my thought and creativity original.

What piece of advice have you been given in your life that you’ve always remembered and that drives you on?

One piece of advice that I’ve been given is that what works for one may not work for the other so stay original and keep grinding one hundred percent. Never give up.

What’s next for Ivan The Greatness? What can fans expect?

You can expect Ivan the Greatness’s music playing and this face on every screen you can think of! Live performances and more music!  My single “Power2030” is off of my upcoming album Unbreakable which is an album for everyone! It takes you through time and space… from the ‘50s to the future. I’ll be at The Republic Bank Of Performing Arts in New Jersey on May 19th opening for The Invincible Tour as well so come out!

Finally, what question do you wish someone would ask you in an interview, but nobody ever does?

That’s a good one. A lot of time people ask me about what I do. But not about who I am. I’m a real chill person with a lot of dreams that I’m work toward making come true . Everything that I do is a stepping stone to the next thing and every step is bigger than the last so stay turned!!
