TOWERSEY FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES FIRST HEADLINER FOR 2023!

THE UK’S LONGEST RUNNING INDEPENDENT FAMILY FESTIVAL OF MUSIC, COMEDY, CEILIDH, CRAFTS & FAMILY FUN LAUNCH THE TOWERSEY ADVENT CALENDAR, TO REVEAL THEIR GIFT OF 24 GREAT NEW ACTS AND HAPPENINGS EACH DAY UP TO CHRISTMAS!

THE DIVINE COMEDY has been revealed today via the Towersey Festival Advent Calendar, as the first exciting headliner for 2023, over 25TH – 28TH August, Bank Holiday Weekend at The Claydon Estate, Buckinghamshire.

This will be followed by a daily reveal in the advent calendar on Towersey’s social media platforms of further acts and attractions running up to Xmas, culminating on Dec 24th with Santa dropping an act down Towersey’s chimney that we’d definitely walk 500 miles to see!

Towersey Festival, the UK’s longest-running independent festival, organised by generations of the same family, is a well-established festival & firm favourite of the merry making local communities throughout Bucks/ Berks and Oxfordshire.  With a mix of contemporary and traditional acts the festival is proud to program ‘Any stream, but mainstream!’  Making The Divine Comedy a perfect top to the bill for the friendly four-day event.

The Divine Comedy have been making interesting music, inspired by the creative arts & classic songs and words from writers such as Tolstoy, F Scott Fitzgerald, E.M Forster, Scott Walker & A.A Milne for 30 years. Breaking into the Top 40 singles charts during Britpop alongside the likes of Jarvis Cocker (Pulp) and Brett Anderson (Suede) with Something For The Weekend; Becoming More Like Alfie & The Frog Princess (From the album Casanova) Lead singer Neil Hannon proclaims the bands success to be down to a perfect mix of knowledge and ignorance. They have released 12 studio albums throughout their career & their highest album chart position to date  (Top 5) in 2019 came with Office Politics.

About the author

There’s a lot of music out there - good music. At Essentially Pop our remit is that we cover music that deserves to be heard, with a particular focus on independent artists. That doesn't mean we won't cover your old favourites - rather we hope to give you some new favourites as well.

We no longer accept unpaid PR agency work. We believe the creative arts have value, and this includes writing. As always, we will write about artists who contact us - or who we contact - for free - but we can no longer work free of charge for PR agencies. We work hard, we put in a lot of hours writing, and we ask that you respect that. Contact us for our very reasonable rates.
