The Essential Advent Calendar: December 24 – Twinnie Sings ‘Elf Yourself’ And We Ask Her Some Questions

It’s a double door today for Christmas Eve as we not only present Twinnie’s festive single, but we take the chance to ask her a few questions.

Following on from the release of the powerful EP ‘Welcome to the Club’, earlier this summer, British artist Twinnie rounds out 2022 with her fantastic new Christmas single ‘Elf Yourself’ (November 25) produced by Grammy nominated artist and producer John Osborne, and Brandon Paddock who has produced number 1s for Lady A (Like A Lady) and Miranda Lambert & Elle King (Drunk and I Don’t Wanna Go Home).

This standout offering is the opposite of ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ which tells you everything you need to know about the vibe of the track and what to expect from its lyrics.

Elf Yourself’ is a fun-filled Christmas bop that has all the hallmarks of a holiday classic allowing for Twinnie to bring 2022 to a close in wonderful fashion.

Speaking about the song, Twinnie says:

“Elf Yourself’ is tongue-in-cheek message aimed at your ex or someone you don’t like. The official video will also star my nieces Demi and Victoria which I’m also really excited to share”

What’s your plans for Christmas this year?

I’ll be going home to York to spend it with my family and I’m also going to be volunteering too for some charities over the holidays.

Your festive single, ‘Elf Yourself’ is out and it’s about giving the heave ho to a former relationship who’s trying to get in good with you right at Christmas time. Have you ever experienced that yourself? What was the outcome?

I think we’ve all been through something similar whether that be at Christmas or another time in the year. It’s basically the opposite of All I Want For Christmas Is You. I hope people can resonate with the lyrics and have some fun with it too.

You’ve been releasing music for a good few years now, what’s been your best experience so far, in terms of experiences or performances?

Performing at Wembley Stadium this year was incredibly special and I’ve had the opportunity to play Bluebird Cafe and my first CMA Fest this year too. Every experience is uniqe and I’m incredibly grateful for everything I’ve experienced so far. It’s hard to pick out one in particular as they’re all special in their own way.

What advice do you have for anyone who’s just starting out in the music business? What’s helped you along the way?

Surround yourself with good people. You’re going to get a lot of no’s but it only takes that one yes and to have someone to believe in you. Don’t let the knockbacks stop you. Also, I Know A Woman has a range of support opportunities so please reach out to us too – iknowawomanofficial.com

Similarly, what are the pros and cons in the music business that stand out most to you?

I think it depends on who you’re surrounding yourself with and who you’re working with. It can be hard to navigate and that can take its toll on your mental health but it’s an incredibly rewarding business to be a part of too.

What’s planned for 2023 that you are able to share here with your fans?

I have a new album coming out early next year – that’s all I can say at the moment.

Finally, and I ask this question of everyone I speak to, what question do you wish someone would ask you in an interview, but nobody ever does? And what’s the answer to that question?

Why do you think music can be so powerful?

Universe means one song “uni meaning one and verse meaning song. I’m a very big believer in that we are all connected and everything is operating on a frequency. I think the power of music is a sacred thing.
