Samantha Gibb’s family name is synonymous with pop music, and for good reason. The daughter of the late Maurice Gibb, one third of the world famous Bee Gees, she was blessed with not only inherited talent, but also a loving and nurturing family who encouraged her and helped her on her musical journey.
Samantha’s latest single, ‘Good Lovin”, is almost the perfect pop song; with an irresistible melody and stunning vocals, it’s catchy as all heck and you’ll be singing it long after the final notes have played.
Samantha sings in the stirring chorus, “You say I’m a dreamer, but I’m doing fine,” and she certainly is doing very well indeed, so much so that she is happy to take as long as she needs to reach her full potential, her final destination.
Although Samantha has been making gorgeous pop music for years, particularly with her band, The Cartel, and also with her father Maurice, her brother Adam, and her uncle, Barry – ‘Good Lovin’ feels as much like an arrival as anything else. Not a reboot, but rather, a new chapter in her musical life.
‘Good Lovin’’ is Sam telling the world that she’s doing it her own way; and thankfully her way is one that is instantly appealing, catchy, and fully clever. With insightful lyrics providing the perfect platform for her beautiful voice, Sam’s message is brought forward in no uncertain terms. The song also serves as a showcase for her piano playing, her skilled production, and over all, her talent for putting together an incredible pop song.
Accompanying the single is a lyric video, which further emphasises the lyrics, and enables the listener to further understand the song’s meaning. Samantha is in the studio, first on the piano and then behind the mic, and then the stage is given to other women, finding their way in the world. It’s a great illustration for how we all should be: maybe we won’t live up to our full potential, but so what? It’s our own life to live, and we’re doing fine. We feel divine.
