Contemporary Christian Artists, Chasing GOD Releases Latest Album, ‘Dear GOD’

Released on 27 July, ‘Dear GOD’ is the brand new album from Chasing GOD. The album which is a testimony to the group’s Christian faith, can be streamed and downloaded here.

Chasing GOD is a group comprising some of the best musical artists, not just in contemporary Christian music, but across music altogether. Taking inspiration from other Christian artists, such as Steven Curtis Chapman, 4Him, and Phillips, Craig & Dean, Chasing GOD comprises artists from across the US, ranging from Iowa to Nashville, Tennessee.

While at just 6 tracks ‘Dear GOD’ is a short album, this in no way detracts from its power and musicality, and it is unique in that while it treads over much of the same ground as other worship albums, it still manages to feel fresh, and appealing, regardless of whether you are a Christian or not.

The opening single, ‘Dear GOD’, came about when founder and songwriter Randy Comer was reluctantly convinced to attend a Christian acoustic concert with his wife. He had been out of the music business for more than 30 years, but the experience of listening to the lyrics of the songs played, impacted him deeply. Once at home he immediately wrote and produced the track, pouring his heart and soul into it.

Second track, ‘Walk In The Light’ lends itself both to congregational worship and radio play. A powerful and insanely catchy song, it will immediately catch the ear of every listener, regardless of their genre taste. ‘Little Town’, the 6th track on the album, harks to Comer’s storytelling country music roots, while the much slower, piano-led instrumental, ‘Beauty With Thorns…Love With Pain’, is reflective and meditative.

‘Memory Of A Dad’, track 4, is another instrumental that continues this slower pace, providing a divider in the centre of the album, leading into the heart-wrenching, ‘Stay’.
