Albert Cummings And The Rest Of Us All ‘Need Somebody’ In This World

We recently spoke with Albert Cummings, and now we are able to examine in more depth his recent single, ‘Need Somebody’.

From the very first note, you know this is going to be a song and a half. Hard rocking guitars open the way for a tough and gravelly voice that’s clearly had a lot of experience. A catchy chorus, irresistible and intense, the song borrows from modern pop for its format, while never for one second betraying its rock roots. Cummings knows a bit about Gospel too, and that is also evident in his vocals, which are just about as soul as they come. At precisely three minutes long, ‘Need Somebody’ is radio friendly and yet lean enough to tease the ear and leaving you wanting more.

The clip for ‘Need Somebody’ is as simple as can be, but when you’re dealing with as incredible an artist as Albert Cummings, you don’t need any extra frippery or embellishment. Cummings and his band are shown performing, their absolute joy in making music is evident on their faces, and their camaraderie is clear – this band is a well-oiled machine, that’s for sure! Albert Cummings may “need somebody”, but until he finds them, he’s got a band that is sure to go wherever he asks.
