Glorybots – ‘Radiate’

Jalal Andre is the mastermind behind Glorybots, and his pop explorations take on the best aspects that Muse, Radiohead, and Nine Inch Nails have to offer. Glorybots’ second album, ‘Invisible’, follows on from ‘Dark Alien Pop’, and sees Andre joined by keyboardist Matt Bayles, known for his work with Minus The Bear, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam, among others. Latest single, ‘Radiate’ is dark and yet filled with an undeniable joy as Andre’s propulsive rhythms and airy melodies fill our ears. On the surface, ‘Radiate’ is a love song to and about California, but dig a little deeper and you realise that there’s so much more: it’s a song of exploration and the wonders of discovery, and we the listeners are invited along for the ride.

The video for ‘Radiate’ is a classic sci-fi trope of aliens trying to blend in with earthlings. The animated clip tells the story of two space explorers visiting earth for the first time, whereupon they discover the joys to be had in selfies, surfing, and what else, but starting a band. They travel down the west coast, and while they’re enjoying all that California has to offer, they’re leaving pieces of alien tech in their wake…once they’re back on board their ship, they reveal their true intentions – make sure you watch right to the very end to find out.
