Set for release on March 1, trap artist Anubis’ latest single, ‘Madness’ is an eclectic blend of hip hop, reggaeton, and rock.
‘Madness’ starts out quietly enough, with Anubis’ gentle and somewhat whispery vocals accompanied only by a piano, and soft percussion. About two thirds way through the track however, he takes us by surprise and launches into an outburst of rage, evocatively demonstrating the madness of the song’s title.
Drawing on Anubis’s Italian and Hispanic roots, the song’s lyrics evince his struggle with isolation, but he nonetheless channels his energy into making the track a powerful reminder to always push beyond the scars and bad experiences.
Anubis, who hails from The Bronx, has been exploring the rap genre since the age of 9, as a means by which to explore his inner feelings. His songs generally fluctuate between gentle and melancholic, to aggressive rage, with the tracks layered with a gossamer vocal which commands the listener’s full attention.
