New York-based indie rock trio Jaguar Dreams released their eponymous debut EP last month.
With the release of their debut single ‘Dreams’ in July, the band found themselves landing spots on Spotify’s New Music Friday, and their latest release only cements their position as a band worth paying attention to.
The 100 % DIY project starts off intricate, yet easy, ‘Just Life’ before transitioning into the pleasantly monotonous ‘Behind Those Clothes’ – which in spite of its repetitive chorus remains catchy.
Slow-build number ‘Too Close’ comes in, before the thumping beats of ‘A Real Woman’ grace your ears.
Then lead single – with an accompanying illustrative lyrics video – ‘Mean Somethin’, works as a perfect intermission, before the band’s electronica influences come into play with ‘All You Try’.
Closing out the 7-track is glitchy and mysterious ‘ Tapts’, which builds anticipation, and leaves you wanting more.
The trio described the debut project as “monumental” to them and as it keeps you listening all the way, and reaching for the replay button, I’d hard pressed not to agree given the quality of the production.
