We first saw Jess Morgan back in February when she played support for legendary Norwegian band, a-ha. Struck by her pure vocals and easy-going guitar playing, we knew there was something special about her. Jess is set to release her latest single, ‘Whitby’ tomorrow, April 20.

The second release for Jess this year – her first was ‘Aston Expressway Kiss Me Quick‘ – ‘Whitby‘ is an acoustic track, with Jess’ pure sweet voice accompanied by her guitar. It’s a love song which is tinged with sadness. It feels autobiographical, she’s certainly writing from the heart, with a tale of love that is sometimes there, sometimes not. There’s regret, there’s longing, there’s love. Jess has been called “a songwriter’s songwriter”, and for good reason. She invites the listener in, and envelopes them in her story, to the extent that we have to hear it over and over, each time picking up a different meaning, another emotion.

‘Whitby’, by Jess Morgan, is out tomorrow on Drabant Music. You can find out more about Jess Morgan online on her official website, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. You can check her out on Bandcamp too.
