Brian Mackey – ‘Underwater’

Based in New York City, Brian Mackey’s latest single, ‘Underwater’, shows that he is an artist whose music is capable of touching the hearts of  many different people across a wide spectrum.

Brian’s skill with the acoustic guitar is well known among his fans; he certainly has a gift for writing a song, and telling a story. With ‘Underwater’ however he exposes himself and puts down his guitar, revealing a gentler, more nuanced arrangement, which showcases the message of the song. The video for ‘Underwater’, for which he turned to director Sandy Stenzel, is a cinematic masterpiece. Underwater shots, explosive emotions by the side of a road, and the loneliness of the California desert perfectly illustrate the tale of a man trapped in a life he no longer wants to be in, but from which he can see no way to escape. The perfectly imperfection of Mackey’s voice further compels the listener to absorb his message.

Brian Mackey has had a very successful US tour supporting David Bromberg, and will be touring Europe from the end of this month, opening for Ron Pope. You can find out more details here.
