With a fresh sound that blends elements of alternative music and pop, California based artist TAWHER’s debut album, ‘Doomsday Play’, brings an uplifting energy to listeners all over the world.
‘Doomsday Play’ is out now, and can be streamed and downloaded here.
The title song from the 16 track album draws from TAWHER’s Syrian origins, with a distinct Middle Eastern flavour, paired with a high energy pop-rock vibe.
Crafted entirely in his personal studio, TAWHER made use of digital instruments and sequencers, and pushed the boundaries of production: he took long, heavy rock guitar melodies, soaring violins, and other instruments, lowered them by a couple of steps on the music scale. Additionally, he shifted the tempo in different directions. It’s a clever manipulation, resulting in a positive effect on the emotions and feelings of the listener.
With each track on average between 3 and 8 minutes long, ‘Doomsday Play’ may at the outset seem like a significant listening commitment, but TAWHER skillfully manages to keep the listener’s attention in such a way that the songs pass quickly.
While the word “doomsday” may have negative connotations, particularly in today’s world, in the hands of TAWHER it’s joyful and upbeat. Second song, ‘Twisted The Story’ keeps the high energy flowing, with TAWHER’s vocals strong and powerful, with roaring crescendos and flying falsettos. It’s clear that this artist really enjoys making music – and his joy is transferred to the listener.
TAWHER left his native Syria in 1986, in order to study in Stuttgart, Germany. From there he relocated to California, USA, in 1988. His passion for computer-based music began in 1999, after he saw an ad at the Guitar Center in Hollywood, for a free seminar on Cubase software from Steinberg. Such was his interest that he then attended more than 15 sessions across various locations in California, mastering the tool before committing to purchase it.
