She’s Got Claws Take Us On A Synth-Pop Journey With New Album, ‘Stronger The Faith’

Released on the 20th of February, ‘Stronger Than Faith’ is the latest album from British duo, She’s Got Claws. Originating from Hull, in England’s north east, the pair, comprising singer Micci Lou and bassist Chris O-Ten, are largely influenced by the likes of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan (from whose song they take their name), and Human League, as well as taking inspiration from the glitz and glamour of T-Rex, and David Bowie.

‘Stronger Than Faith’ is out now and is available to stream and download here.

First single, ‘Rewind To Fade’, comes with an 80s inspired music video, calling to mind Thompson Twins, while the song itself will remind listeners of Gary Numan’s 1980s era synth pop. Shot in Hull by Cardiff’s Cine North Studios, the clip, which can be watched below, adds yet another layer to the sonic journey She’s Got Claws have set out on.

Starting each track on bass guitar, the vocal lines thereafter emerge naturally, while harmonies and synth lines follow, strengthening the emotional core of the track. Taking 18 months to complete, ‘Stronger Than Faith’ saw Micci at the helm, in charge of programming, vocals, synths, and engineering, while Chris co-produced, adding his basslines, which inspired Micci’s songwriting.

The 9 track album, which opens with ‘Rewind To Fade’, draws from the band’s personal experiences of bullying at school, family dynamics, and the intricate emotional connections we forge through life. ‘Monsters From The ID’ is about the things that we make up in our minds, that grow out of all proportion, while ‘Lipstick Honey’ is a track about attraction to someone, and wanting them to also admit their feelings. Deeply sensual, it retains the same 80s inspired synth-pop, to the extent that it could easily be a freshly rediscovered deep cut from an album of that era.

‘Stronger Than Faith’ is out now. You can find out more about She’s Got Claws and their music online on their official website, InstagramFacebook, SpotifyApple Music, and Bandcamp.
