We Get Personal With BOSCO About His Latest Release, ‘One Goodbye’

Following on from his latest single, ‘One Goodbye‘, BOSCO spoke with Essentially Pop about his music and what he hopes listeners will take away from the release.

What first inspired ‘One Goodbye’, and when did the core idea click for you?

People are dying for no reason. Thinking about them and imagining their loved ones who had no notice. I lost my dad unexpectedly and never got to tell him how I felt so I feel it is important to tell people “today” how you feel because you might not get the chance tomorrow

This song feels really personal – what made you want to open up in this way right now?

I’ve always felt this way, I just was able to put it into art form.

The track has that warm, early-2000s indie vibe. How did you find the right mix of softness and edge in the sound?

I have a very talented engineer. He’s worked on hits for Snoop Dogg, Fineas and Ferb, plus many others. I just write the music and leave the rest to Casey Diiorio at Valve studios

The message about appreciating people while we still can is powerful – did anything in your own life bring that theme forward?

Yeah. My mom and dad split when I was 2 and I never got to see him. He died when I was 16.

You start the video with that Rumi quote. What does that line mean to you in the context of this song?

Pain opens us up to see things differently. For me, it let the light in ultimately. I can’t say the darkness didn’t try to consume me. I was extremely upset when my dad died but I learned to use that to make me a better person

The mix of 70’s childhood clips and the empty chair is emotional. How did you decide on that visual contrast?

I can’t honestly answer that. We were in the studio filming and all of a sudden something or some presence came over me and the was someone in the chair. No one I could see but someone I could feel. The filming became so emotional that the videographer had to ask if I was alright after. Jared Sagal, my videographer and good friend, pieced everything together from there. He’s very talented

In the studio scenes, it feels like you’re searching for something unsaid. What did you hope viewers would feel in those moments?

I’m searching for the person “my dad” that I didn’t get to say goodbye to.

If someone hears ‘One Goodbye’ on a tough day, what do you hope it helps them realize or remember?

Everyone, rich or poor, has bad days. If you can rise above your feelings and help someone else’s day be better, it makes your day better, too. I used to hate a lot. But it doesn’t make anything better. We heal when we love unconditionally

Anything you’d like to share about what you’re working toward in 2026?

So many things. A movie. I’ll be in the upcoming Yellowstone series, ‘Y: Marshals’, and I have 6 more singles heading to the studio. So if you like what we’re doing like share and subscribe. Musicians are nothing without an audience. I appreciate your time and interest. Please hug someone today! It could be their last hug! It could be yours. That is the point of ‘One Goodbye’.

                    Bosco Out. ❤️
