Ms. Diamond Refuses To Shy Away From The Truth With New Video, ‘Broke Ni**a’

Opening with the first line of ‘Love Don’t Live Here Anymore’, the tune of which echoes throughout the track, Ms. Diamond lays it on the line with new single and music video, ‘Broke Ni**a’.

Ms. Diamond, real name Erica Thomas, has been creating music in the name of reclamation, and empowerment, and showing her stripes as a natural born leader, whose devotion to uplifting overs is second to none. Based in Georgia, she has been determined always to reach her goals, and has managed to get there, while also raising her children, balancing her family alongside her creativity.

A proud Magna Cum Laude graduate of Southern Illinois University, Erica earned her degree in Paralegal Studies with Honours, and has since served as a Contact Agent for the IRS, where she has brought professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to helping people navigate challenging situations. She’s now on track to graduate from law school next year, and along the away, she’s found time to start a music career. ‘Broke Ni**a’ is her first release.

Refusing to steer away from the raw, unvarnished truths that have from time immemorial shaped the human experience, Ms. Diamond is sass and savvy incarnate, as she casts the spotlight on an inter-generational problem that has plagued communities like her own. She knows only too well the struggles of trying to reason with, and trying to raise a child with, men who are “broke” in every sense of the word. She’s not just calling out the financial situation, but also the mindset, of men who literally plant seeds only to walk away from their responsibilities. With razor-sharp precision, Ms. Diamond raps with an intensity that harks back to the golden era of hip hop, granting no mercy to any such broke-ass deadbeats. Ms. Diamond is sparking a dialogue about breaking a destructive cycle, because she doesn’t want to see her children and grandchildren suffer in the same way she has.

Joining forces with her college friend and professional film maker, Byron Henderson, the music video for ‘Broke Ni**a’ sees Ms. Diamond’s story come alive as we follow a dysfunctional couple navigating the paths of parenthood. Featuring her actual children and grandchildren in the video, the scenes almost hit too close to home at times, as the clip shines a light on the growing tension and emotional strain that occurs when one partner isn’t pulling their weight.
