Mane Thompson x The Racing Pulses bring a quiet, yet striking maturity with new single and music video, ‘Rewrite The Past’.
An undeniable bop, ‘Rewrite The Past’ is a clear reflection of everything that Mane Thompson stands for. Still only in the eighth grade, the Wisconsin artist is living proof that it’s never too early to follow your dreams. Speaking of his life choice, he says, “When I sing, I try to make the world a better place, I try to bring inspiration to have young people keep their feet on the ground, but keep reaching for the stars…”.
Although he started out on his musical journey with a karaoke machine and a childhood fascination with Michael Jackson, it was actually the steady stream of country music played at home that saw Mane Thompson put aside the usual distractions of youth, and saw him, with incredible discipline and determination, balance the demands of school and music.
Mane and The Racing Pulses became a team when they were sharing a stage one fateful night, and discovered they had an undeniable connection. The band had been forging their own path since 2012, with groove-driven, magnetic tracks and electrifying live shows, but when singer-songwriter Kristian Petrov Iliev, the band’s guitarist and main songwriter, heard Thompson’s amazing vocals, they invited him to collaborate on their next single. Now, ‘Rewrite The Past’ is a celebration of their collaboration, and an ode to mentorship and chasing the dream.
‘Rewrite the Past’ blends the distinctly imaginative storytelling of country music with some effortlessly catchy garage-rock grit. Relatable and powerful, Thompson lets loose on the vocals, pouring out his heart and soul, with all the longing and angst of someone who is pining for the one who got away. With rubbery bassline, classic guitar riffs, and brash cymbal crashes, and a simple, swaggering melody, ‘Rewrite The Past’ goes beyond the desperate pleas of the lyrics, and transforms the song into one that will be played on repeat by whoever listens to it.

One hurdle that many young performers face is a lack of stage presence, a shyness that usually fades with time and experience.
