‘Memorare’ is the latest single from Le Concorde’s album, ‘Second Mansions’, which comes out today, the 19th of September, and wow, what a way to go!
We’ve followed Le Concorde’s journey through Catholic mysticism from March this year, starting with ‘Corpus Christi‘, his dedication to the now Saint Carlos Acutis, who was canonised earlier this month. Since then we’ve journeyed with him to Santiago de Compostela, and his track, ‘Saint James‘. Last month, he dropped the no less stunning, ‘Morning By Morning‘. All three have contained a certain 80s element, calling to mind the likes of ABC, Van Morrison, Spandau Ballet et al. ‘Memorare’ continues with this, in Le Concorde’s homage to Mary, Mother of God.
The original ‘Memorare’ has been traditionally attributed to the abbot St. Bernard of Clairvaux from the 12th century, and was a prayer to ask Mary for her assistance and her grace, especially when we feel most troubled in our daily lives.
In La Concorde’s hands, it’s still a prayer, and you feel his ecstasy as he sings; it’s a devotional set against a sweeping choral vocal, while soaring guitars and gentle percussion fill in any gaps left behind. It’s beautifully transcendent, Le Concorde’s voice powerful and nigh on mystical. It’s a fitting track to come ahead of the album.
‘Second Mansions’ is out today, and can be streamed and downloaded at all the usual places. Listen to ‘Memorare’ below. You can find out more about Le Concorde and his music online on Instagram, Facebook, and his official website.
