The Dead Daisies Give It Their All With ‘Love That’ll Never Be’

The Dead Daisies are in fine form with their latest release, ‘Love That’ll Never Be’. The Australian-based supergroup, founded by rhythm guitarist David Lowy, is keenly focused on substance over style, but that’s definitely not to say they don’t know how to make a soul stirring anthem.

Fresh off the success of tours all over the US, UK, and Europe, and about to embark on a second leg of their European tour, they re-imagines a 70s classic rock sound, with an up to the minute contemporary style that keeps audiences on their feet.

We’ve just passed Valentine’s Day, and love is still on everyone’s mind, including The Dead Daisies. ‘Love That’ll Never Be’ is about a woman who’s holding onto the memories of a lost love, one that’s consumed her totally. While time may heal all wounds, it doesn’t make goodbyes any easier to get over. She’s not got her former lover to cling to, so holds tight to the memories, which she is desperate to keep alive, as they fade.

The music video sees the woman come to life, her flowing red hair and pale skin emphasising her sorrow. Clips of her crying, in her room, on the beach, in her house, on a gorgeous hillside, are interwoven with that of the band, giving it their all in the studio. Lead singer John Corabi is able to convey the pain with such a stirring ability that suggests he’s had his heart broken once or twice.

While melancholic and anthemic, ‘Love That’ll Never Be’ is still full rock, with its bluesy licks, punchy drums, and kickass bassline, it’s filled with soul and pathos. Mesmerising guitarwork captivates the listener, and showcases just how much talent is in this band, which is a collaboration between members of legendary rock acts.
