A multifaceted artist who is not just a singer, but also a songwriter, actor, and creative director, Ian Ward’s passion for storytelling and beguiling personality have opened many doors for him from an early age. After starting out in theatre in New York and Los Angeles at just eight years old, he was already leading his high school band and performing his original songs as a teenager, which he followed up by studying music and theatre at the University of Miami, and Berklee College of Music.
Ian’s original music is genre-bending and reflect his own personal growth, told with unique instrumentation and his own vivid style. This is setting him up for taking the stage this March, in Season 23 of American Idol, which will certainly see his star rise even higher.
Ian Ward’s new single, ‘One Shot’, channels the early 2010s style of Jason Mraz, and Bruno Mars. It’s an anthem of hope, love, and living life if it’s all that matters. It focuses on that struggle we all know, of young lovers caught between chasing their dreams, and following their hearts. The song captures a personal moment in Ian’s own life, on a love he once had, where he realised he had no time to wait, and, with a new confidence fuelled by his passion, he decides to pursue that love.
The music video for ‘One Shot’ was directed by Simon Kienitz Kincade, in collaboration with Mutual Street Entertainment, and is set against the scenic beauty of Los Angeles. Ian takes viewers on a journey across the City Of Angels: from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, browsing the albums at world famous Amoeba Records, down to Santa Monica and Malibu Piers, as well as taking in the views of the entire city, to be found from Griffith Observatory.
Not only does the video serve as a feast for the eyes, but it’s also a reflection of resilience. Los Angeles has suffered devastation due to the recent wildfires, which lapped even far as Hollywood Boulevard itself; the video however is hopeful, with its imagery of palm trees, hazy skies, and the glowing sunsets that are symbols of this wonderful city. Ian sets about the city with his acoustic guitar and his soulful voice, and makes his personal experience one we can all relate to, setting his love story against the timeless charm of Los Angeles, inspiring to all of us who are chasing our dreams.
