Robin Brown’s New Single, ‘What’s For You Won’t Go Past You’ Has Infectious 00s Indie-Pop Flavour

Released on September 27, ‘What’s For You Won’t Go Past You’ is the new indie-pop single for British artist, Robin Brown. The second track from Brown, it captures the hopeful wonder of the 00s sound, with elements reminiscent of The Strokes, The Vaccines, Vampire Weekend, and the never to be forgotten, Viola Beach.

The new track is available to stream and download here.

Pulling all his influences together masterfully, Glasgow native Robin is able to craft what is simply the perfect pop track; infectious melodies take nothing away from the deeper meaning in the lyrics, while the overall theme is one of the anxiety and uncertainty of life that we all experience in our mid-20s: that feeling of being fully adult, but not quite wanting to take on the responsibilities that go along with it.

Brown wrote the track during a time when he felt lost. His friends during a time when he felt lost, watching friends settle down while he was still unsure. He explores the pressures of comparing your own stage in life to that of others, and questioning if maybe he should be further along than he is. In the end, he concludes that it’s okay to not have it all worked out yet; just enjoy life as it comes.

‘What’s For You Won’t Go Past You’ is one of Robin Brown’s personal favourites, and was recorded at Glasgow’s Castle of Doom Studios, and produced by Chris Marshall and Johnny Madden.

Robin Brown taught himself guitar and started making music at the age of 16, before branching out at 18 with his band The Vanities. He spent the following 7 years gigging around the UK, but discovered his feel-good guitar pop indie sound was divergent from the band’s garage/punk style, and so is now pursuing a solo career.

‘What’s For You Won’t Go Past You’ is out now and is available to stream and download here. You can find out more about Robin Brown and his music online on Instagram, Twitter, Spotify, and Apple Music.
