Texan Christian singer songwriter Amanda Davey’s journey through the music industry tells an incredible story of determination and faith, as well as balancing a busy family life with her passion for music. We spoke with Amanda about her music, her inspirations, and what fans should expect next from this vibrant artist.
Amanda, your music often carries deep emotional and uplifting messages. How do you approach songwriting, and what inspires you the most?
I first approach songwriting with prayer.
I Trust in the Holy Spirit to bring the words and the melody. Every lyric must line up with THE WORD. My inspirations come from my family life. I’ve got stories. With seven children in today’s time, I have leaned on my faith in the Lord many times. I have also fallen many times. As long as I keep my eyes on Christ he will keep me strong and toward holiness. That’s his promise!
Who are some of your biggest musical influences, and how have they impacted your sound and style?
I have many artists from all genres who have influenced me. Each one brings unique and diverse sounds to my music, I like blending styles and emotions from various sources to create truly distinctive music.
‘Shine Your Light’ is such a positive and encouraging song. What was the inspiration behind it, and what message do you hope to convey through the lyrics?
I hope that when people hear this song the words resonate in their minds and eventually settle in their hearts. For me, it brings my faith back to the simplicity of his love for us.
What do you hope listeners take away from ‘Shine Your Light’? Is there a particular story or emotion you want them to connect with?
I want this song to remind us that if we trust in him in all our ways, from the time we wake up until we lay our heads down, he will bring us home. No matter what we are facing or going through. He will carry us home. That is his promise.
The music video for ‘Shine Your Light’ beautifully complements the song’s message. What was the concept behind the video, and how did you want it to visually represent the song?
If anyone knew what was going on in my life at the time that video was shot they would have never believed it. I was leaning on my faith for that video, and dancing and singing with the joy of the Lord as my strength!
How involved were you in the creative direction of the video, and what was it like working with the team to bring your vision to life?
I had an awesome crew. My producer, Chris Lieck, kept it all organized and locked in. I am grateful for him. My team and camera crew were all members of the worship team at Christian Family Church in San Antonio. My home church. With all of us working together a great video was formed! We had a lot of fun.
In what ways do you think the music video enhances the overall experience of the song for your audience?
For me, just seeing someone else dancing and singing with joy is enough to bring a smile to anyone’s face. The next time a person hears my song they will remember seeing me full of joy. I believe positive confessions can change a person’s life. There is power in the tongue,in laughter, and music. This video projects that. Some people may say it shouldn’t be about me. But it is to God. And I want the world to know that he feels the same for everyone.
Do you have any other upcoming projects you could share with us?Â
I have a video shoot scheduled in November after I get back from South Africa for my next release called ‘Prison House’ in November. Fusing the anthemic energy of 30 Seconds to Mars with the rock-infused worship of Brandon Lake, ‘Prison House’ is a bold and powerful track that delivers a message of spiritual freedom. With driving guitar riffs, soaring vocals, and heartfelt lyrics, this song captures the raw intensity of rock , making it an inspiring anthem for those seeking redemption and hope.
