The music video for Neo 21’s new single, ‘SGMA Remix’, showcases the industrial and natural beauty of Bradford, West Yorkshire, which strikingly goes well with the bold rap track.
‘SGMA Remix’ is a stunning reinterpretation of the original by Dave & Jack Harlow, which in itself was already powerful. Neo 21 takes inspiration from their concept and visuals, while bringing his own flair to the remix, using it as an autobiographical look at his own life path, and turning the track into a self-dialogue.
Neo 21 has more than 5 years experience in the music business, having curated viral content and dropped infectious freestyle mixes across his social media, where he quickly gained recognition. This saw him secure a top 5 spot in a 2022 Nigerian talent exhibition – from an entry selection of more than 1000. Since then, he’s moved to Bradford, West Yorkshire, where he’s forged for himself a niche in the Arts and Culture sector as a Product Manager, while at the same time hosting a popular biweekly Afrobeats show on local station BCB Radio.
Neo 21’s musical style finds its base in Afrobeats, HipHop, and Trap/Melodic Rap, and his sound is an enticing blend of smooth melodies and sharp lyricism, with inspiration taken from the likes of Wizkid, Burna Boy, Kendrick Lamar, and Gunna. Neo 21’s music is both relatable and aspirational, with his songs filled with messages of hope, growth, and resilience.
The music video for ‘SGMA Remix’ is shot in black and white, and set against Bradford’s iconic landscapes, and serves as a reflection of Neo 21’s journey. An extra bit of flair is added with the incorporation of a striking neon green tie, representing his individuality and creativity, a pop of colour against the grayscale backdrop. There’s a timeless quality to the clip, and yet the neon accent gives it a modern twist.
