Come ‘Clubbing on the Moon (Staring at the Sun)’ In New Pop/Rock Release From Pep Rally

Tommy Joyner, the man behind Pep Rally, was one of the founding members of MilkBoy, and his talents as a songwriter and producer ring through on Pep Rally’s new single, ‘Clubbing On The Moon (Staring At The Sun)’.

An unfettered, anthemic blast of a song, that’s guaranteed to get the party started, ‘Clubbing On The Moon (Staring At The Sun)’, is filled to the rafters with the true spirit of punk, while sailing freestyle on a buoyant wave of relentless percussion, and a melody you won’t be able to shake.

Drummer Emily Roane replies to Joyner’s lyrics with mischievous and pithy lines of her own, while telling the often scary, yet thorougly delightful, story of clubbing all night, based on their true life experiences in the Philly indie rock scene. Honesty in songwriting is often the best policy, and Joyner and Roane hold nothing back, sparing no details, or specific information.

A natural successor to from ‘Turn The Radio Up (Own The Night‘, ‘Clubbing on the Moon (Staring at the Sun)’ is an invitation to listeners of Pep Rally to give in to their own rocking impulses. Just like the video for ‘Radio’ was Joyner’s celebration of the city the band calls home, the clip for ‘Clubbing’, also directed by Joyner, takes viewers inside the recording studio, where we see footage of Joyner and Roane, playing loose, carefree, and magnetic, with their easy camaraderie is apparent in every shot. There’s still room for some gripping images of local clubs, too, of course giving a highlight to the venue that started it all, MilkBoy.
