Soulfully Authentic Musician Camille Rose Returns With Her Nostalgic New Single, ‘Just Friends’

Released on October 20, ‘Just Friends’ is the new single from fresh faced jazz/soul artist, Camille Rose. The track comes after the success of her debut EP, and is available to stream and download here.

Camille Rose, who counts Amy Winehouse, Minnie Riperton, and Nina Simone as among her inspirations, grew up harmonising to her favourite songs as a young child, singing in choirs, and then more recently, studying jazz in London. Her debut EP, ‘Raining In July’, was released in 2021, thanks to the support of her family and friends who helped her get the funds together to record it.

Camille Rose’s new single, ‘Just Friends’, is a light, upbeat track, with a heartfelt story about how what was initially thought to be thee love to end all loves, didn’t end up being that way. But they’re just friends – and despite the somewhat emotional instability in the aftermath of it all, neither of them want to lose the other, so in the end, that’s alright. Speaking about the inspiration of the track, Camille says,

“This tune focuses on the transition from lovers to friends.… but with the addition of all the emotional baggage and painfully precious memories- things are poignant but you’re also thankful for the memories. That ray of positivity is enhanced by the instrumental arrangement.”

‘Just Friends’ came about spontaneously during a 7-piece band session, was later reworked in production, with the end result being the warm and generous piece it now is. Camille Rose takes the listener through a range of jazz, soul, R&B, funk, and blues vibes, and in so doing, effectively manages to come out with her own distinctive sound, one which is very pleasing to the ear, and incredibly moreish.

Speaking about her music, Camille says,

“I feel lucky that I can make people happy with my voice – get them to stop in the street, enter a bar of cafe, get them to smile, get them to kiss their partner or dance with their friends- and that’s such a blessing and validation for me and my work”.

‘Just Friends’ is out now and is available to stream and download here. You can find out more about Camille Rose and her music online on Instagram, Spotify, and Apple Music.
