Released on July 17, ‘Forward’ is the new single from SONÉT, a talented singer-songwriter from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Real name Stephanie Jean, SONÉT has now released 5 tracks over the past 3 years, with ‘Forward’ being a soulful, R&B song. Her stunning vocal melodies have been laid over a bed of rhythmic drums and complimentary synths and keyboards, the result being a catchy, instantly memorable track that you’ll be humming for ages.
SONÉT’s catalogue is already quite impressive, and ‘Forward’ is a welcome addition. After a time when she had a seemingly endless sequence of, in her words, “disappointments, betrayals, and misunderstandings”, SONÉT stepped aside for a while and concentrated on herself, as well as focusing on her faith. The result was a change in her lifestyle and attitude – she was moving forward, and the consequent track of the same name was written to motivate others to affect a similar experience in their lives.
Speaking of ‘Forward’, SONÉT says,
“The lyrics encourage us to be positive and continue to move forward by living and loving life. The song has a spiritual connotation that speaks of coming forth from a dark place into the light.”
SONÉT worked with producer Isosik at his studio in South Florida, as well as co-producer Ace Lombardi. The three shared their creative aims, giving a raw authenticity and relatability that both lifts the spirits of the listener, and sends the important message about the vitality of faith, self-belief and determination.
SONÉT was enchanted with music from a very early age, and even from 2 years old had a confidence and stage presence beyond what was expected of her age. As she got older she sang in both church and school choirs, her ethereal voice entrancing everyone who heard it. From there she joined a group with 3 other girls, taking part in after-school sessions, singing Motown classics.
SONÉT continued to work on her craft, consistently learning, composing, and recording, and since graduating from college has focused on her artistic growth.
