Welsh Singer-Songwriter Paul James Makes An Emphatic Debut With New Album, ‘Remember Your Name’

‘Remember Your Name’ is the new album from Welsh singer-songwriter, Paul James. The 11 track album, released on May 12, features Paul’s honied vocals, accompanied by acoustic guitar.

Astonishingly this is Paul James’ debut album; a talented singer songwriter, he calls to mind the likes of Nick Cave, Bob Dylan, and Tom Waites, with his lyrical ability and folk stylings. The tracks are deeply immersive, and will draw the listener in instantly.

Tracks such as, ‘Amnesia (Song For a Motorcycle Enthusiast)’, and ‘Playgirl Of The Month’, reveal inspiration from Pink Floyd, while ‘Dreamflow’, and ‘Love Maybe’, have already proven popular with fans, and found their way to airtime on Newport City Radio.

Recorded at COBRA Music Studios in Newport, South Wales, this marvellous album was laid down in an incredibly short six hours. It should come as no surprise then to discover that the album has been a long time coming, with Paul writing the songs over the past few years.

Our personal highlight was track 7, ‘The Same Old Something’, but quite frankly, every single song is a winner – as the kids say, “no skips”.

Paul James, from Machen, South Wales, is a retired teacher who has been playing guitar since his teens. He’s been a part of several bands over time, as well as pursuing his solo career, but due to his work was never able to make his music a priority. Since retiring however, Paul has been able to focus on his music, and, in his words, “at 65 he has found a new career!”.

‘Remember Your Name’ is out now and is available to stream and download here. You can find out more about Paul James and his music online on Facebook.
