Of all the bands we’ve written about over the years, The Dead Daisies would have to be one of the ones we’ve covered consistently. If you’d like to visit our previous articles (there’s 2 pages of them), be sure to check them out here.
The band is essentially a supergroup, made up of a rota of talents, and it currently includes guitarist Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio), drummer Brian Tichy (Whitesnake, Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol), bassist and singer Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Country Communion), and rhythm guitarist David Lowy (Red Phoenix, Mink). In the past, they have also had icons such as Dizzy Reed (Guns N’ Roses), John Corabi (The Scream, Mötley Crüe), and Darryl Jones (The Rolling Stones).
Another consistency is that The Dead Daisies never fail to produce absolute bangers, and their latest single, ‘Face Your Fear’, from their upcoming album, ‘Radiance’, is no exception.
The Dead Daisies are well known for their ability to handpick from the best talent rock music has on offer, and the proof is in the pudding with ‘Face Your Fear’. The top notch lyrics call upon listeners to not allow themselves to be consumed by the fires of their fears, but rather look them squarely in the eye and defeat them.
With vocals from the incredible Glenn Hughes, ‘Face Your Fear’ is more soulful and bluesy than previous Dead Daisies releases, but it’s no less a hard rocking tune with ferocious guitars, and strident percussion. We feel every tone, every note, every word of the song, right down to our very core, and we can do nothing but obey.
The music video for ‘Face Your Fear’ is a simple one, but for such a song not much embellishment is necessary. The band are in a studio, the camera focusing on each musician in turn, and showing them for the collective they are – a group of whom each member is an equal partner.
