Glenn Valles is a multi-genre, international award-winning songwriter, who refuses to be constricted to one specific music style, or to what the world might think he should do. Born and raised in Mumbai, India, Glenn brings vivid imagery into his songwriting, regardless of whether it be country, pop, rock, hip-hop/rap, or EDM.
Country is where his roots lie however, and while he was growing up, Glenn’s uncle would tell stories of cowboys, and the west, creating an undying love for country music in Glenn’s heart. He was encouraged by his wife Celvita to chase his dream as a songwriter, and for the past 15 years he’s focused on his passion, setting his spirit free through writing and creating music. New single, ‘Urban Cowboy’, sees Valles exploring the idea of an old rancher’s reaction, and necessary adaptation, to our modern society, in the face of advancements in science and technology.
Valles blends old and new in this country track, as the urban cowboy reflects on how the modern lifestyle is blending its way into the country life more every day. As Glenn puts it so well in the song, “the World Wide Web has cast its net and lassoed him away”, taking him far from his traditional way of life on the plains. The message at the end however is clear – you can take the man out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the man, as his heart and soul will always remain on the range. no matter what.
In line with the song, the video for ‘Urban Cowboy’ shows a cowboy getting pulled into the digital age, while never fully letting go of his country roots, as he tends to his cattle and fixing fences around his property. There’s a smooth transition between the traditional cowboy boots, Stetson, and chaps, to the business attire o corporate suit and shoes. But really, under the surface, it’s the same person. While ‘Urban Cowboy’ isn’t based on a true story, Glenn’s songwriting still reflects his own life experiences of never letting the 9-to-5 overtake his true love of writing music. You can’t keep a good man down, and just to confirm that, Glenn Valles is already in the process of recording his next hit, this time in the blues/hip-hop/rock genres, showing that there is no question of his creative gift.
