Last month we introduced you to US-based Brazilian artist, Nubia Rose, with her festive single, ‘I Want Nothing For Christmas‘. Nubia Rose has had an extraordinary life – so far – and never says never when it comes to following her dreams, and she’s certainly packed a lot of living into her life. We had the opportunity to chat to this incredibly talented and lovely lady, about her life, her music, and her inspirations.

We’re loving your festive single, ‘I Want Nothing For Christmas’ – and the reminder that the giving, and being with our loved ones is more important than the receiving of gifts. How does this message impact you personally? What are your plans for the holiday season this year?
Oh my goodness! That is so nice to hear, thank you so much! It really means a lot to me.
Well, before Covid-19 surged in the Planet, our plans were to spend Christmas with my Mom and family in Brazil, but, since things still not back to normal, the best thing to do is to just spend Christmas here in our home in Florida like we usually do every year. I cook dinner, set the Christmas table with decorations, it is just enchanting. I love it!
How have you been during the Covid-19 pandemic? How has your life, and plans been affected?
Well, I am a person who enjoys to stay home. I am very creative, I like to write songs, I am in peace with myself and the world, I just enjoy life and everything I have so much. I am thankful. I got very sad with all the ones we lost with this virus, then, right in the beginning when everything started I wrote ‘In This Together’, and the big problem was to record it, all the recording studios were closed, then I ended up recording the song in my closet, the place in my house with less noise (LOL). I sent the vocals to Marc my music engineer and he got it done! Having no studios to record affected my plans.
You’ve many strings to your creative bow – model, movie producer, actress, magazine owner – as well as your work in finance in real estate. Now you’ve added singing to the list – what is your secret? How do you find time to do it all? What do you enjoy the most and what advice do you have for anyone who is considering following their dreams but worried that it’s too different to what other things they’re doing?
Sometimes I ask myself the same question (LOL)! I love everything I do, but, my favourite is when I am recording a song, just love it! You need to be organized and try to do one thing at a time, for example , I take the morning to work on my songs, the afternoon to work on my magazine and the night to relax, the next day I do it all over again, sometimes, I pick just 2 hours for my music, 2 hours for magazine, 2 hours for social media…You need to work with your time, but never forget to take some time for yourself.
America The Land Of Dreams, Just by being here I am already following my dreams, this is the best place in the whole wide world. You need to take advantage of this wonderful place called America. If you have a dream don’t be afraid, just go for it. Ask for the support of your family, do whatever it takes to realize your dream, life is too short to afraid of anything. If you don’t have financial support from family and you have a dream, get a job, and live your dream part time until you can start generating money from it, but my advice is to give it a try!Â
Who or what inspires you most in your life? And how about your musical inspirations?
My Mom inspires me, she is a wonderful woman, worked her whole life, raised me all by herself after separating from my father when I was 14, she is my best friend, I love her.
Musical Inspirations, Mariah Carey’s famous Christmas song, ‘All I Want For Christmas’, and I like Justin Bieber’s musical style, I love his songs, they inspire me.
If you could go back in time and change one thing in your life, what would it be, if anything, and why?
I would have had started singing earlier in my life (LOL)!
Describe your perfect Christmas for us.
To me a perfect Christmas is to be with our loved ones.
What can we expect from you in 2022?
Well, I have so many plans for 2022, I hope I can accomplish them all (Lol), but one of the things I have on my list (since I am an independent artist) is to start looking for a record label company to work with, I know that’s is not easy to get signed up with one, but I need to give it a try, it’s time.Â
And finally, a question we ask everyone we interview – what question do you wish someone would ask you in an interview, but nobody ever does?

About my first name Nubia, the name was picked by my Mom, there was a singer in Brazil called Nubia Lafayete. She loved that singer and named me after her.
