WHYYOUNGN – ‘Hip-Hop Booty’

Brooklyn rapper WHYYOUNGN grew up in the concrete jungle, and while he was there he learned how to handle himself, finding his way through the toughest neighbourhoods and against the most tenacious competitors. Born Dashawn Rufus, instead of letting his neighbourhood influence his choices, he turned to Jennifer Lopez, allowing her style and magnetism to inspire him. WHYYOUNGN’s debut EP, ‘First Ten Minutes’ however is entirely him, and new single, ‘Hip-Hop Booty’, is just a small glimpse of what he has to offer.

It only takes a quick glimpse at the street murals, yellow cabs, and corner bodegas to let us know the video for ‘Hip-Hop Booty’ was shot in New York City. Looming views of the Barclay’s Center let us know that we’re in downtown Brooklyn. WHYYOUNGN is seen with his crew and girls backing him up, the latter of whom are ready and willing to show off their nice bods. Directed by Max Hilva, the daytime scene is set in DUMBO, and allows WHYYOUNGN and his crew to show what they’re made of. By the end of the clip we’re left in no doubt as to who rules the streets – WHYYOUNGN has set his eyes on the crown.
