Tsunami of Sound – ‘Motor Oil’

Tsunami Of Sound, if you hadn’t already guessed, are a surf rock band, Their new single, ‘Motor Oil’, comes with a fun animated clip that pays homage, with the song itself, to the entire 60 year history of the genre.

The band themselves have been masters of the surf rock style for a long time, and with their vibrant guitar, thunderous beat, and solid bass lines, they take all the elements of good solid surf sound – think ‘Wipeout’ – and give it their very own twist. There’s no vocals – these guys are purists after all – but there’s no need.

‘Motor Oil’ comes from their album, ‘Permanent Wave’, of a collection of energetic, and first rate surf rock songs on the album. The accompanying video sees the animated versions of Tsunami Of Sound buoyed by the waves, along with their stage. They’re riding, not a wave of seawater, but instead a gush of motor oil, and are propelled out to sea where they’re eaten by first a giant squid, and then a blue whale. They stay cool throughout, along with the ogres, mermaids, and other creatures who are getting down to ‘Motor Oil’.
