It’s the 14th door on our Essential Advent Calendar, December 14, and behind it we find Melxdie (“mel-o-dy”), an emerging pop singer currently bringing her new Christmas anthem ‘YOU’ to the global stage.
Melodie Young, aka Melxdie , grew up in Toronto, Canada absorbing creative inspiration from her Lebanese mom and Peruvian father, who was also a musician with a deep love of Latin, Jazz and Salsa music. She stormed into the music business in 2019 with the release of “Summer Love”, a collaboration with international star Tory Lanez . The single, which charted on Billboard’s Top 100 and Apple Music’s Top 10 in RnB & Soul, highlighted her uncanny ability to craft genre-defying songs that blend styles like hip-hop, pop and reggae. With momentum on her side, Melxdie released ‘Girls R Better’, a reggae infused single featuring dancehall sensation Mavado, which quickly went viral on Tik Tok amassing over 21 million views and more than 2,000 videos.
Melxdie enjoys challenging the norms of society and creating a full package of audio and visual art that pushes boundaries. Her upbeat personality is truly magnetising and nearly as alluring as her seductively irresistible tracks.
