Jekalyn Carr – ‘Changing Your Story’

Jekalyn Carr is a highly respected Gospel artist, who won a Stellar Award as a teenager, and has since topped Billboard’s Gospel Album chart with ‘One Nation Under God’, and ‘The Life Project’. Beyond that she’s won Dove Awards, and been nominated for three Gospel Grammys. She’s listed as one of the most influential people in the world, in EBONYcounts’ “Power 100″‘. With her music ministry, Jekalyn has touched the hearts of thousands of listeners, and now she’s hoping to make a difference in the lives of everyone else.

New single, ‘Changing Your Story’, reminds us that American popular music owes its very existence to gospel music, and the accompanying video shows Jekalyn giving her all straight from the pulpit. The clip contains concert footage, the audience both transfixed and jubilant, completely enraptured by her voice and its powerful message. Carr puts God in the centre of her song, and makes sure everyone knows it.

It’s not a conventional radio song by any means, but anyone who’s ever been to an evangelical meeting will be familiar with the style. Alternating between soft and loud vocals, Jekalyn administers healing with her voice, through the power of Jesus. The congregation, for that is what it is, soak it all up, and lose themselves in the power of Christ.
