Lucas James Blando – ‘I Wish My Heart Could Paint’

Although his musical style varies from song to song, singer songwriter Lucas James Blando will capture your heart with his heartfelt performance. His song, ‘I Wish My Heart Could Paint’, is captivating, and along with the accompanying music video, will ensnare you as a fan for life.

Blando’s influences include Josh Garrels on his lyrics, which have a metaphoric base, and his guitar playing takes its inspiration from John Mayer – in fact Blando started playing guitar after seeing Mayer live. Like John Mayer, Lucas Blando has the knack for being able to paint a picture with his songs, and ironically, far from wishing and not succeeding, Blando’s heart indeed *can* paint.

‘I Wish My Heart Could Paint’ tells the story of a man who has a lot to say, and many feelings he can’t fully express. His anxiety is palpable, right from the opening verse. The song was written in 1998 by Sky Cooper, who put together a team in order to bring the song to life. Blando came into the group when Tom Alexander, who plays piano on the track, suggested him to producer Gary Benson, who was searching for a male vocalist. Several months of fine-tuning later, they recorded the track at The Power Station, using a microphone that had once been used by Frank Sinatra.

The music video for ‘I Wish My Heart Could Paint’ brings Sky Cooper’s vision to life. Model and actress Brittany Paul stars alongside Lucas, who we see standing at an easel in an art studio, attempting to capture her beauty on canvas. The outdoor shots were captured in Southern Florida, and are filled with sunshine and love.
