Ignescent from Chicago are a female-fronted rock band who bring intensity, fury, power, and passion to their music, equal to or surpassing any other. Led by vocalist Jennifer Benson, they started in 2008 when she united with lead guitarist Deven Elion, drummer Chris Calix, rhythm guitarist Joey Sepulveda, and bass guitarist Ian Sebastian.
Over their 12 year history, Ignescent have opened for the likes of Flyleaf and Stryper, played the infamous Rock Fest in Wisconsin, and Vans Warped Tour. They’ve also released an impressive number of singles and EPs.
The music video for latest single, ‘Into The Night’ see fans finding themselves in the plot of a horror film. Benson is locked inside a barn, while a murderer – wearing a mask of course – is next door sharpening his axe. The band is rocking out in the woods, while the murderer is revealed to have mental illnesses, diseases, and vices scrawled (and crossed out) on the mask. This is reflected in the song, as Benson sings,
For years I cried myself to sleep
The hurt is all I breathe
Eventually Benson escapes, and bashes the masked one with a log, before fleeing to find safety. She finds a car, and is thankfully, taken in.
‘Into The Night’ is a hard rocking song reminiscent of Paramore, and will get you headbanging before you know it.
